architect: marcel breuer
year: 1970
Marcel
Breuer was born in Hungary
in 1902. He studied in Bauhaus, where then he was in charge the furniture
workshop. In 1925 he designed the chair B3. The legend tells that he inspired
in the handle of his bicycle Adler. Seemingly he gave a B3 to Wassily Kandinsky,
because when the chair is re-launched in the ´60s, is called Wassily. As many German
people, when Hitler comes to the power, Marcel B. emigrated. In 1933 he is in London, and in 1937 he moved to United States. Associated with
Gropius, he is professor in Harvard. In 1946 he opened office in New York. In 1944 he
spent a time in Buenos Aires, and together Eduardo
Catalano and Carlos Coire, in a dune, on the Argentine sea, a few kilometres
south of Mar del Plata,
projected the Ariston club. Visit any Marcel B. building is one of the most
intense experiences in architecture.
